Mill Relationship

Nucor proximity & mill-adjacent advantage

Our Performance Master processing facility is co-located adjacent to Nucor Crawfordsville — one of North America's largest sheet mills. The geographic relationship means master coils move directly from the mill to our slitters with a single short truck leg, instead of the two long-haul legs typical of distant processors.

Nucor proximity is one sourcing advantage within a broader domestic and international mill network. Customers receive traceable material with mill certifications that flow through every shipment, while maintaining flexibility across market conditions.

Traceability

CMTR — Certified Mill Test Reports

A Certified Mill Test Report (CMTR) is the mill's record of the chemical composition and mechanical properties of a specific heat of steel. It is the foundation of traceability for regulated and OEM supply chains.

At Metal Master, every processed coil and shipment is linked back to the original mill heat number. The CMTR — including chemistry, tensile, yield, and elongation data — travels with the material from inbound receipt through processing, staging, and outbound delivery.

CMTRs are provided with every shipment by default and are retained electronically for the life of the customer relationship.

Automotive

PPAP capabilities & IATF 16949 alignment

Metal Master supports Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions for automotive and Tier-1 customers operating under IATF 16949. We are not an IATF-registered manufacturer, but our quality system is structured to provide the documentation, traceability, and dimensional evidence required for the elements of a PPAP package that originate at the service-center level.

We routinely supply submission-ready packets including design records, material certifications, dimensional results, and control-plan inputs in support of Level 1 through Level 3 PPAP submissions.

Process

Quality process — inbound to outbound

Every coil moves through documented quality checkpoints from the moment it arrives at Performance Master to the moment it leaves on an outbound truck.

    Inbound receipt

    Verify heat, coil ID, weight, and CMTR against mill paperwork.

  2. 02

    Incoming inspection

    Surface, edge, and gauge verification before release to staging.

  3. 03

    Processing

    Slit or CTL to spec with in-process gauge and width checks.

  4. 04

    In-process QC

    Operator sign-off and recorded dimensional checks per work order.

  5. 05

    Final inspection & tag

    Coil/skid tagged with traceability data; packaging per customer spec.

  6. 06

    Outbound documentation

    Packing list, CMTR, and any required PPAP elements released with shipment.
